# Build photonic crystal lasers with us

Semergytech is an early-stage startup commercializing photonic crystal laser technology, especially PCSELs. The technology is based on years of research by professors at the University of Texas at Arlington, Stanford University and elsewhere.

To support PCSEL product development, we're looking for a product development director and highly motivated, highly qualified engineers in design engineering and in process and fabrication engineering.

Because of our current funding program, these positions are open only to US persons: US citizens and US permanent residents.

### Director of Product Development

Lead product development for Semergytech's semiconductor laser and optoelectronics products, from roadmap through execution.

- Strong technical skills in semiconductor lasers and/or optoelectronics, photonic crystals or nanophotonics are required.
- Industrial and commercial product development and product management experience is required.

### PCSEL design engineer

Lead the design and modeling of PCSEL devices, and work with the rest of the product team on performance evaluation and improvement.

- Strong computational skills with experience in electromagnetics, photonic crystals, metamaterials and related areas are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of semiconductors or laser design is a plus.
- This position can be remote if you have a very strong, relevant background in electromagnetics theory and modeling, metamaterials or nanophotonics.

### Process and fabrication engineer

- Location: Arlington, TX

Work in the cleanroom to fabricate PCSEL devices, from process development through finished parts.

- Extensive micro- and nano-fabrication experience in semiconductors, especially compound semiconductors, is needed.
- Candidates with industry product development experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- This position is on site in Arlington, Texas, in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.

## What the work looks like

You'll have autonomy to lead efforts across the design, development and fabrication of semiconductor laser devices. As a fast-growing company, we expect engineers to be self-sufficient from day one and to solve problems independently.

Alongside design, process and fabrication work, you'll coordinate with other engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impact.
